Moody elopement on the Foggy Coastal Cliffside

We met up with Bobbie & John the day before their elopement to show them around and explore the area a little to find the exact location for the ceremony, I took them to one of my favorite coastal cliffs near Samuel H Boardman and Bobbi instantly fell in love with. It was a spectacular cliff with jagged rocks stacked up high and the view of the ocean crashing against the cliffside down below. It was a thrilling view and sound! We were so stocked to have the ceremony in this very spot the next day, but per usual the Pacific Northwest had other plans regarding the weather and to our great surprise the day was filled with fog! Not just a light fog but a thick cloud of it that made it nearly impossible to see 10 feet in front of us. The spectacular view we found yesterday was completely covered and only a few tips of the rocks peaked out. We waited 30mins to see if maybe the fog would clear a little but it only thickened so we decided lets just embrace this fog and work with it!
I’m so glad Bobbi & John trusted us to still create something awesome for them even though the original plan didn’t happen. I believe that we created some of my favorite images I have ever taken, I know I say that a lot but I cannot get over how much character the fog brought to these photos, we were in our very own Twilight Movie that day! Both Bobbi & John actually ended up preferring the fog over a sunny day when they saw the final photos I delivered, as did I! Sometimes plan B turns out way better than plan A. The ability to embrace whatever comes your way is the only thing I recommend to my couples, embracing the chaos is when the real magic occurs.
